Sean Murray, the developer of No Man's Sky, released a little pirate flag emoji. That was all it took for the
buzz to rise, as fans hypothesized that this must be the start of a new space pirate upgrade on the verge
of release, complete with cargo smuggling, pirate missions, and black-market elements. It turns out that
a lot of what I said was right. Outlaws is the name of the latest No Man's Sky update, and it allows you to
finally live the life of a space pirate in the infinite cosmos. The update will delve into the sordid underbelly
of No Man's Sky, including piracy operations, black-market technologies, contraband smuggling, and
pirate-run spaceports in outlaw star systems.

They were lighted with eerie red lights and were utterly deserted, with no vendors or NPCs. According to
the trailer, the stations may suddenly be inhabited by space pirates. You'll find fresh pirate objectives and
black-market technology there. According to developer Hello Games, "like-minded players can even
obtain a counterfeit passport that will allow them to bypass the authorities."

A new class of starship has been added for the first time since the Living Ship upgrade, and they look
pretty dang sick with their extending solar sails. When you find a new solar ship, you won't have to
abandon any of your current ships because the maximum number of player ships has been increased
from six to nine. Smuggling contraband will, of course, catch the notice of trigger-happy sentinels, but
that's not the only danger you'll face. Because stealing from thieves is a fantastic way to make a living,
just because you've become a pirate doesn't mean you won't have to fight other pirates. In battle,
though, you won't be alone: AI-controlled squadmates can be hired to serve as your personal wingmen,
and they can even be improved over time to better their flight and combat abilities. You'll be in charge of
a real-life space pirate group. Combat has been revamped to go along with all this extra pew-pew-pew
you'll be doing. "Handling has been improved," Hello Games claims, "we've added new visual effects to
weaponry, and enemy starships now have shields." "A number of specialty secondary effects, such as
slowing enemy engines or disabling shield systems, have been added to weapon options."
